Cristiano Ronaldo and Bale, finalists for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award

The winner will be announced on the 25th August, during the group stage draw for the Champions League.


Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are amongst the three nominees for UEFA prize for the best player in Europe in the 2015/16 season. The Portuguese is looking to win the award for the second time, while Bale finds himself named as one of the three finalists for the first time. The third player up for the award is Antoine Griezmann.

The winner will be announced on Thursday 25th August during the group stage draw for the Champions League, which will be held in Monaco. The jury consists of journalists from the different member associations that make up UEFA.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The Whites’ forward had yet another legendary season, scoring 51 goals for Real Madrid (35 in La Liga and 16 in the Champions League). He also hit the decisive penalty in the Undécima winning final. His Portugal side were crowned champions at Euro 2016, a competition in which he scored 3 goals, making him the top scorer for the knockout stages and the first player to score in 4 separate Euros.


He won his second Champions league title with Real Madrid in Milan, scoring in the decisive penalty shootout. In La Liga, he scored 19 goals. With Wales he showed himself to be one of the best players of the Euros, scoring three goals and taking his team to the semi-finals in their first appearance at the tournament in their history.
